Marcus Rashford has completed another stage of his comeback from injury as he scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.
Rashford has been out of action since the European Championship final having had shoulder surgery, but returned to full training on Friday, October 1 and played against the Championship side at Old Trafford, getting on the scoresheet.
His club and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be desperate for Rashford to be in contention for their next game, which takes place a week on Saturday – for one important reason.
Marcus Rashford has scored more Premier League goals against Leicester City than any other team in his career, registering five goals against the Foxes so far.
And United travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Saturday, October 16, with the match kicking off at 3pm.
Following the game against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, Rashford tweeted: "So good to get some minutes under my belt today."
The 23-year-old was suffering from a shoulder problem for the second half of last season but continued to play through the pain barrier for United and then England during Euro 2020.
Speaking at the end of last week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he hoped Rashford could be available after the international break.
“Marcus is fit, he's worked really hard, but he’s not had any contact [until now]. If his shoulder can take the contact now, he should be ready after the internationals," he said.
Rashford scored 22 goals and registered 14 assists in all competitions for United last season, his best season for the club in terms of both metrics.
