Moves by Knowsley Council to revitalise the fortunes of three areas of the borough will move ahead next year as a series of key decisions are due to come before councillors.
Kirkby town centre has been at the heart of a long running - and at times controversial - attempt at regeneration, with a long awaited supermarket finally opening its doors earlier this year.
As the council comes back to meet in the new year, further plans for Kirkby town centre will be discussed with decisions due to be made by councillors in early January.

The council plans to decide on the appointment of a contractor by March for another much anticipated part of Kirkby’s regeneration - a cinema and leisure complex in the town.
Prescot ’s redevelopment will also be on the table in the early part of the new year, with a report due to be discussed at cabinet on January 12 detailing financial plans for the town’s future.
Construction of the Shakespeare Playhouse has been moving forward at speed and councillors will also meet to discuss the acceptance of a £1m grant from the Liverpool city region combined authority for work on a new Prescot bus station to meet anticipated new demand.
The ongoing efforts of Knowsley Council to revive the fortunes of Huyton Village will also be high on the agenda, with plans to be discussed in the spring to acquire further properties along Derby Road and Sherbonne Square.
The council has spoken of its pride at work carried out to date to redevelop Huyton town centre with plans to transform its main drag into something of a foodie destination.
