Key points in Northern Ireland's winter Covid response proposals revealed

Guidance around working from home may be strengthened in Northern Ireland, according to proposals being worked on by the Department of Health.

Officials in Robin Swann's department are working on a package of proposals aimed at increasing compliance with existing rules, such as the wearing of face masks in certain indoor settings.

The proposals, seen by the PA news agency, suggest that employees will be advised to work from home where they can and that employers should support this where possible.

They also propose the possible introduction of a "scores on the doors" scheme for businesses to record compliance with Covid-19 regulations.

The proposals from Robin Swann, which have been circulated to Executive ministers for their approval, suggest that Northern Ireland requires greater enforcement regarding the wearing of masks and face-coverings.

Mr Swann warns that compliance with mask-wearing rules is currently insufficient and the proposal, seen by the PA news agency, calls for ministers to work together to boost compliance across a range of areas.
