Key Player From Alabama’s Awful Final Play Against Michigan Enters Transfer Portal

Alabama starting center Seth McLaughlin entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, less than 48 hours removed from a Rose Bowl that he’d like to forget, according to a report from Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News.

McLaughlin was responsible for several low snaps that put the Alabama offense in precarious situations against a stout Michigan defensive front, including on the final play of the game in overtime in which his low snap appeared to force quarterback Jalen Milroe to abandon the swing pass to the flat.

Milroe instead plowed straight ahead and was stopped short of the goal line which ended Alabama’s season one game short of yet another national title appearance under legendary coach Nick Saban.

McLauglin started all 14 games for Alabama at center this season, and was the starter for eight games in 2022. The Buford, Ga. native had an extensive offer list out of high school, including from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and others.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.
