Key Manchester United update emerges and Notts County fans say the same thing

Some Notts County fans think Nicky Butt could be replacing Neal Ardley after the club's owners called time on his tenure at Meadow Lane on Wednesday.

Butt has left Manchester United after nine years in the club's academy, most latterly as their head of first-team development.

United said he has left the club with the club's best wishes to seek a new challenge.

Ardley has departed Notts after nearly three years with the club following Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Yeovil Town.

Although Notts fought back from 2-0 down to secure a draw at Huish Park, a point against the National League's 14th placed side and a result that means the club have only won twice in eight games.

LEIGH CURTIS: This is Notts County's chance to impose themselves in this division

Notts are looking to return to the EFL after two seasons out after relegation in 2018-19.

"Going to put two and two together and get 100 - Butt to Notts?" one fan asked.

"To be fair to Butt he has had several years managing the United academy that is a good background for Notts," another added. "I wouldn’t rule him out just due to his name."

"New Notts managerm" a third fan said

Another said: "Thinking aloud? "Timing certainly caught my eye."

"Tylor Golden's loan from Salford is extended the day Butt steps down from his position and Ardley is sacked," a fifth fan said. "Oh please let it all be coincidence."

Speaking about his departure and what is next, Butt said that he knows the time is right for another exit from Old Trafford.

“I already know from my playing days how difficult it is to leave Man United, but it feels like the right moment for a new professional challenge and I look forward to exploring opportunities that build on the great experiences I’ve had here over the past nine years.," he said.
