We're not sure why, but we've fallen out of love with the cardigan. However, this white number has turned our heads and reawakened some of the old feelings. We think it's the perfect addition to a summer wardrobe and right now the only cardigan colour that is working for us

This is a nice shirt, isn't it? Press stud fastening - you don't see that everyday. Top marks to Ute Ploier for this edition to the newest Lens at Topman collection

Finding the perfect white shirt is a labour of love. Our favourites are the button down, monogrammed or something with a twist that isn't too tricksy, like this plastron style with shirt tail detail. Can be worn tucked in or loose. It's by Martin Margiela, need we say any more?

If you wear the same pair of shorts all summer it's worth upgrading from the high street. You can't beat a classic white chino short and Polo Ralph Lauren's are about as good as they get

Nothing, quite frankly, says summer like a pair of white chino shorts. Just add grass stains and cricket

The newest addition to our menswear muse moodboard is Jay Gatsby. We CANNOT wait to see the new Leo DiCaprio version - will he or won't he live up to Robert Redford? Who knows, but in the meantime you can mull it over while pacing a well-kept lawn in these elegant lace-ups

White shoes can be tricky, no one wants footwear that screams 'hospital orderly'. We suggest an off-white hue like this punched brogue

To do the all-white look right you will need a belt. This one works equally well with all other colours
