There was much speculation about the TV series Mad Men being the influence behind Prada's show. However, at the post show interviews this was denied. "Phew!" we secretly thought, Mrs Prada can't watch TV like a mere mortal, it would be like the Queen hand washing her own smalls! Betty Draper comparisons aside, the frocks in this shows were what dreams are made of if you measure upwards of a C cup. Frothy frills drew the eyes straight to the bust line and the full skirts fell elegantly in fifties formica scribble prints. We were in housewife heaven

This cotton dress is perfect for the end of summer. Wear now with bare arms and layer with a neat fine gauge knit as autumn nights draw in

The zip keeps this pretty floral dress the right side of milk maid. We think it's a bit Gossip Girl if you mix it with a battered leather jacket, ballet pumps and an across-the-body chain bag

Now you might think blending into the curtains is a bad thing - not when you are chanellling a 50's housewife, reader! A slight 'upholstery' feel is exactly the ticket. We find a dark background to the print makes it more modern

We love the elegance of this dress, simple with a twist never goes amiss in one's wardrobe. The bronze slash, threaded waistband and pleated detail gives this dress a designer look with a nod to Prada. We say keep this look simple with black opague tights and elegant black stilettos

Not one for wallflowers. Don Draper would probably drop his scotch bottle if he saw dear Betty in this punchy plaid. It creates an impressive Vuitton like cleavage, (another key accessory for A/W10) and a delightful cinched waist

Isn't this exactly what tortured soul Betty Draper might wear while fixing Don a whisky on the rocks? Accessorise with gloves to smooth down your non-existent creases

One for the younder ladies, a demure polka dot in our favourite chic colour combo of navy and black - we don't subscribe to the belief that this is bad luck or as one friend's mother maintains "makes you look like a bruise". Wear with thick black tights and a ladylike court shoe

For those of you that feel Mrs Draper isn't foxy enough we think that D&G's leopard print chiffon number will raise the temperature at any cocktail party

The focal point of this silhouette is the cinched waist and full skirt, a perfect look on all figures. We love the smudgy print and giant bow. If a neat platform court shoe feels to prim then rock this look with a super high-heel tan knee high boot for a stronger look
