Key dates for coronavirus lockdown easing in Scotland for March and April

Nicola Sturgeon made some changes to the indicative dates to coronavirus lockdown easing in an address to MSPs yesterday.

The First Minister announced that all kids in Scotland are expected to go back to school after the Easter holidays.

All remaining primary school pupils are scheduled to return to the classroom full time on March 15, while there will be a phased return to face-to-face learning for secondary pupils.

Sturgeon also said that the Scottish Government is considering ‘accelerating’ the easing of lockdown restrictions following recent positive data on the state of the pandemic.

The SNP leader will address Holyrood again next week to set out details of the tiered lockdown system currently expected to come into place from April 26.

Speaking yesterday, the First Minister said: “We will consider between now and then if the data allows us to bring forward any relaxation of the rules.

“I have always said if we can go further and faster, then we will not hesitate to do so.

“All of us want to move on as quickly as possible - and, as a priority, to see friends and family again. This will very much be the focus of our considerations over the next few weeks and I hope the day for that is not too far away.”
