Key bus routes face disruption due to Nottingham Strathdon Hotel fire

Key bus services in Nottingham have been affected due to a huge fire at the Strathdon Hotel.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said a number of bus services could not serve Cathedral named stops on the way out of the city.

Travellers have been asked to use stops earlier along the route.

In a tweet NCT said: "Pink, Orange and Turquoise Line buses cannot serve the Cathedral named stops when leaving the City. Please use previous stops at Upper Parliament Street (Pink & Turquoise) or Angel Row (Orange) as an alternative."

The fire broke out at around 12.40pm on Derby Road, with eight fire engines being sent to tackle the blaze.

A spokesperson for Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire was reported at 12.40pm at a disused hotel on Derby Road.

"The fire is located on several floors. Fire on the ground floor has been extinguished, crews are searching the remainder of the building."

They added that crews had been sent from stations including Highfield, Carlton, West Bridgfrod and Arnold.
