Key associate of mob boss Owen Maguire boasts he is 'back in Drogheda' amid threat from rival gangs

A key associate of paralysed mob boss Owen Maguire - who has been under threat from rival gangsters - has boasted he is ‘back in Drogheda’.

The close pal of Maguire’s fled the country in 2019 during the height of the Drogheda feud that has already claimed four lives - over fears he would be targeted by associates of Maguire’s rivals, the so-called Anti-Maguire faction.

Just months prior to this associate fleeing the country, Owen Maguire's brother Brendan was shot in the neck, arm and stomach in front of horrified shoppers in February 2019 at M1 Retail Park.

Like Owen - who was shot up to eight times in July 2018 in a foiled murder hit that left him paralysed - Brendan survived the botched murder hit.

Now, this key associate and close pal of Maguire- who had already been threatened he will be shot - has taken to social media to boast he is back. He posted an image of himself with the caption “I’m back boys” and a laughing emoji.

This key associate was previously targeted by the mob boss of the Anti-Maguire faction - who are at war with Maguire’s associates - and he had made a complaint to gardai.

He had alleged he was being threatened with his life by the mob boss and made a frantic 999 call to say “He is going to shoot me.”

And in a twist of events increasing tensions in the bitter feud, his two-page statement was leaked onto social media by his feuding enemies to taunt him.

He alleged the leader of the rival gang threatened to shoot him when they came across each other in Donore Industrial Park in Co Louth. That alleged threat was made just weeks after mob boss Owen Maguire was shot and left paralysed in July 2018.

The young rival mob boss - who has since fled the country with his brother in the wake of the shocking murder of Keane Mulready Woods- was charged with threatening to kill this associate.

But that charge was thrown out of court as he and the alleged victim failed to appear for the hearing.
