Key Arsenal member of staff fined by FA after shock defeat to Crystal Palace

Arsenal's first-team operations manager Ameesh Manek has been fined £8,000 by the FA after admitting a misconduct charge.

Manek is believed to have exchanged words with fourth official Stuart Attwell and referee Jon Moss at half-time during the Gunners' 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, April 21.

Arsenal did not appeal.

Unai Emery confirms major Arsenal injury blow ahead of Valencia clash

An FA statement read: "Ameesh Manek, Arsenal’s First Team Operations Manager, has been fined £8,000 after he admitted a misconduct charge from The FA and accepted the standard penalty.

"It concerned his behaviour in or around the tunnel area at half time during the Premier League fixture between Arsenal and Crystal Palace on 21/04/2019."

This is the second occasion this season that a member of Arsenal's staff has been sanctioned for their behaviour in a Crystal Palace match.

Data analyst Victor Manas was fined £6,000 and handed a one-match ban after being found guilty of improper conduct at half-time in the 2-2 draw between the two sides on October 28.

The defeat to Crystal Palace was the first in a three-game losing streak in the Premier League that has Arsenal on the brink of missing out on a top four finish. Unai Emery's side are a point behind Chelsea with two games remaining this season.

To have any realistic chance of finishing fourth Arsenal need to win their two remaining games, at home to Brighton and Hove Albion and away to Burnley, and hope that Chelsea drop points either against Watford at home or Leicester City away.
