Key accused in 'Bulli Bai' case being 'framed', says sister

RUDRAPUR: The 18-year-old who was arrested by the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police for being the alleged "mastermind" behind the 'Bulli Bai' app, is "innocent and was framed by a man who she met online", her sister Manisha Singh claimed on Wednesday.

The teen was held by cops from her house in Rudrapur. “She wanted to join the nursing services in the Indian Army but had to drop the idea after she was diagnosed with an eye disease. She was treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi," Manisha said. "Later, wanted to pursue a BA in Archeology from Banaras Hindu University but the pandemic delayed her plans."

Manisha added: "She became close to one Giyu, who is from Nepal, on a social media website. His original name is Himanshu Goyal. He cheated on her and used her credentials to do these ghastly acts on the internet."

Police have alleged that the accused, along with another accused, controlled the controversial app and posted doctored pictures of women from the minority community on it.
