Key 2021 dates: Super League, Challenge Cup, lower leagues, World Cup

Rugby league has had to be flexible at the start of 2021 as the coronavirus crisis continues to cause issues.

The sport was put on hold for the best part of five months last year, with Super League eventually returning in August.

It has been almost a year between games for teams in the Championship and League 1 but there is light at the end of the tunnel for those clubs.

Here, Hull Live lists the key dates in 2021, some of which have changed since the turn of the year (all dates subject to further change).

February 11: Draw for first two rounds of Challenge Cup

February 14: Release of Championship and League 1 fixtures

February 22 (w/c): Release of Super League fixtures

March 20-21: Challenge Cup round one

March 25: Super League season begins

March 27-28: Challenge Cup round two

April 2-4: Championship season begins

April 10-11: Challenge Cup round three (Super League clubs enter)

May 8-9: League 1 season begins

May 29-30: Magic Weekend, St James’ Park

June 5-6: Challenge Cup and AB Sundecks 1895 Cup semi-finals

June 26-27: Mid-season international window

July 17: Challenge Cup final and AB Sundecks 1895 Cup final, Wembley

October 9: Super League Grand Final

October 23: World Cup begins

November 27: World Cup final
