KEX unveils green initiatives and goals

Kerry Express unveils its 'Green Economy Strategy' for the next 3-5 years.

Leading express delivery service provider Kerry Express (Thailand) or KEX announced sustainability initiatives and goals under the "Green Economy Strategy", which focuses on net zero carbon emissions by 2065.

According to a statement released yesterday, KEX has implemented rigorous measures and mapped out appropriate action plans under the firm's environmental stewardship policies.

KEX is committed to achieving 100% sustainable packaging and 10% carbon emission reduction by 2026.

Moreover, KEX will reinforce its leadership in the express delivery segment with its transition under the Green Economy Strategy in the next 3-5 years.

"Focusing on waste management, route optimisation, renewable energy and electric vehicles [EVs], KEX is committed to enhancing operations efficiency and seeking alternative solutions for parcel management," KEX said in the statement.

The firm aims to align business activities to achieve net zero emissions by 2065 in accordance with Thailand's ambition to achieve net zero emissions in its National Determined Contribution, as announced at the UN's 26th Climate Change Conference.

Over the past several years, the company has adopted integrated route planning and optimisation to reduce carbon emissions from its fleet, promoted waste separation management and used materials that are 100% carbon-neutral.

Earlier in May, the company published its first Sustainability Report, highlighting environmental, social and governance practices and future initiatives.

The report, which can be accessed via the company's investor relations website, is the first milestone for KEX in its sustainability roadmap towards better service quality and accountability to stakeholders.
