The coaching career of Socceroos great Harry Kewell is again at a crossroads after he was sacked as manager of English fifth-tier club Barnet FC.

Kewell had only been at the helm of the national league club for seven games, after joining in June, but was winless in that time.

Barnett sit 22nd of 23 teams after two draws and five losses.

"It was clear how much Harry Kewell wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately the results and the poor start to the season have dictated our decision," Barnet head of football Dean Brennan said after parting ways with Kewell and his assistant Paul Butler.

"The plan for this season was for Barnet FC to be challenging in the top half of the table and that is still very much our aim."

It is the second time Kewell has been sacked in less than a year after he was dumped by League Two side Oldham Athletic in November 2020.

He previously had an unsuccessful 14-game stint in charge of Notts County in 2018, who he joined after leading Crawley Town from 2017-2018.

Former Premier League ace Kewell, 42, played 58 times for the Socceroos, scoring 17 goals.
