Kew Bridge incident: Man dies after two people 'fall into River Thames' in London

A man has died after being pulled from the River Thames near Kew Bridge.

The unidentified man was taken from the river and declared dead at the scene.

He was retrieved alongside another man, who was airlifted to a west London hospital.

His condition is not currently known.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12:37pm today to reports of an incident on Corney Reach Way, Chiswick.

"We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, two medics in cars and an advanced paramedic to the scene. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART) and London's Air Ambulance.

"We treated two men at the scene. Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene.

'We took the second man to a major trauma centre as a priority."

Police, fire, ambulance and life boat services attended the scene (@pennytuppence3)

Earlier this afternoon at about 12.30pm HM Coastguard reported that two men had been taken from the river.

"Chiswick Lifeboat was sent and the London Ambulance Service," a spokesperson confirmed.

"Two people were rescued and are now in the care of the ambulance service."

Reports made online that the two men jumped from the bridge could not be immediately confirmed.

The distance from the bridge to the water's service is about 75ft or 22m.
