In many ways, the Big Ten Conference has created the level of water that all power five conferences are floating in today. Under the thirty-year leadership of commissioner Jim Delany, we’ve seen the Big Ten lead the way on conference expansion, conference dedicated television networks, the use of instant replay, and the shaping of the post-season college football landscape.
Of course there are detractors and criticism out there from many who don’t agree with Delany on several fronts, but there’s no doubt the Big Ten is in better shape across the board than where it was when he inherited the job of moving things forward.
Now that he’s about to ride off into the sunset, it’s going to be tough to find a guy that can keep the momentum going, but the conference suits believe they’ve found that guy in former Vikings Chief Operating Officer Kevin Warren.
Warren, one of the most well-respected and top executives in NFL circles, was introduced to the public by way of a press conference held by the Big Ten yesterday.
