Kevin the Carrot is back as Aldi reveals Christmas 2019 advert

Supermarket chain Aldi is the latest company to reveal its Christmas advert - and the good news is that Kevin the Carrot is making a return.

The 70-second film follows on from Aldi’s Christmas teaser which aired last Friday, in which Kevin finds himself in hot water with an angry gang of brussels sprouts.

New character Russell Sprout, and his Brummy gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’, are boiling with rage about Kevin and his family of carrots stealing the show as the star Christmas vegetable.

The advert - which features a new festive version of Robbie Williams' Let Me Entertain You - begins with the sprouts gathering round Kevin to teach him a lesson.

They've heard he’s planning on putting on a massive Christmas show and they want to put a stop to it.

Luckily Kevin manages to escape the sprouts’ clutches with the help of Tiny Tom and deliver his ‘Christmas Spectacular.’ Katie and the kids make a reappearance, along with a whole cast of new characters.

Sean McGinty, Marketing Director at Aldi UK, said: "We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks. Kevin’s popularity grows every year and he’s becoming something of a national treasure!

"Kevin’s magical Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year.”

Kevin first appeared in 2016, last year he had to save his family from the evil Pascal the Partridge.

The release comes just days after Asda , which bases its festive campaign on making Christmas "extra special", unveiled its heartwarming advert to millions of viewers during Saturday night's X Factor Celebrity.

And Argos was one of the first high street stores to reveal its Christmas advert using the nostalgia of the famous Argos catalogue to launch the Christmas campaign with a fun advert featuring Simple Minds' 1980s classic Don't You Forget About Me.
