Kevin Nisbet to Birmingham City looks dead in the water as Hibs reject £3m bid

Kevin Nisbet's chances of a big money move down south appear to be dead in the water after Hibs rejected an offer in the region of £3 million from Birmingham City.

Easter Road chiefs mulled over the English Championship side's final bid for the striker this afternoon after they upped their initial offer of around £2m.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Hibs have told Birmingham where they need to get to for them to let their star striker leave, but the counter-offer has been deemed unrealistic by City.

And unless another club comes in before tomorrow's midnight deadline, Nesbit looks set to stay in Edinburgh.

Nesbit, from Cambuslang, was set to at least quadruple his wages if the deal had gone through.

The 23-year-old, who was benched for yesterday's 2-0 win over Dundee United, has scored 13 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Hibees this season and is the Premiership's joint-top scorer alongside Rangers' James Tavernier on 11 goals.

Earlier this afternoon Birmingham did land one of their Scottish transfer targets, as Sam Cosgrove joined in a £2m move from Aberdeen.
