Kevin Nisbet tipped for Scotland call by Jack Ross after Hibs striker begins debut Premiership season on fire

Jack Ross believes on fire striker Kevin Nisbet has the tools to play for Scotland.

The Hibs hitman made it six goals in eight appearance sin green and white with a double in their 3-2 win over Hamilton at Easter Road.

Nisbet was exremely unfortunate not to claim the match ball as well after causing Accies all sorts of problems.

His form has led to suggestions that he could help beef up Scotland's attacking options.

And Ross sees no reason why he couldn't make the step up to international level if he continues playing to the level he currently is.

“I think he has the necessary tools to do that,” he said. “It's very easy for managers to wax lyrical about their own players but I believe we have a young striker who’s got growth left in him.

He’s got raw materials that are excellent and he;s not just a finisher. His overall game is very good as well.

“He’s flourishing, improving and we’re going to keep working on him. But obviously he’s in a good place at the moment and I firmly believe that in the future, the opportunity will come for him."

While a Scotland cap might not have been expected, Ross was in no doubt over what he was signing when he bought Nisbet.

“It’s not surprised me,” he told Sky Sports. “We knew we were getting a good player with all round good qualities.

“You’re never quite sure how a player will adapt to playing against defenders at a different level of the game.

“But he’s been terrific.

“His all round game has been excellent and his goal scoring return so far has been excellent as well.

“He’s only 23 so still a very young man as well and it’s encouraging to have such a good, young Scottish striker.

“If he continues with the scoring ratio at which he’s scoring goals at the moment, he’s going to have a really good season.”
