Kevin Nisbet insists Hearts did make late bid to scupper Hibs deal but he only had eyes for Easter Road

Kevin Nisbet has revealed Hearts made a last-gasp bid to hijack his move to Hibs – but he was only interested in a switch to Leith.

Reports of a late transfer bid from Tynecastle boss Robbie Neilson, left, were denied last week.

But the ex-Dunfermline hitman has admitted there was contact with his agent, although the Jambos were given the short shrift.

He penned a four-year deal to become part of Jack Ross ’ squad last week after the club had tried to sign him back in January.

Their perseverance paid off and Nisbet insists he was never tempted by their city rivals. He said: “Ever since January, Hibs has been the place I’ve wanted to be.

“Hearts made an offer and my agent spoke to them. It was flattering but it was a case of ‘no’ and getting everything signed with Hibs.

"It was purely because Hibs had been interested in January. This is the perfect place to come.”
