Kevin Nisbet Hibs transfer latest with time running out for potential Birmingham move

Kevin Nisbet’s prospects of leaving Hibs for Birmingham City are diminishing by the minute with the player yet to even speak to Blues boss Aitor Karanka.

The English Championship club have failed with two bids for the Easter Road top scorer, and manager Jack Ross said earlier today that he expects Nisbet to still be part of his squad come tomorrow morning.

The striker trained with Hibs today ahead of tomorrow night's Scottish Premiership clash at St Mirren.

But Nisbet has reportedly rocked Hibs by handing in a transfer request this afternoon in a bid to try and move things along.

However, the deadline down south closes at 11pm - an hour earlier than north of the border and as things stand, there have been no further bids for the 23-year-old front man.

Given the lack of time HIbs would have to organise a replacement, a switch to the Midlands is looking increasingly unlikely.

And a source close to the player isn't holding out much hope of a deal being done, telling the Daily Record: “We are at a standstill. The player has not even spoken to the Birmingham manager yet and time is running out.”

That will be encouraging news for Hibs fans, who do not want to lose the former Dunfermline man.

He's netted 13 goals since arriving from East End Park in the summer, and still has three-and-a-half years left on his Hibs contract.

How the reported transfer request will go down if Nisbet does end up staying remains to be seen, and the club will be braced for fresh approaches in the summer.
