Kevin Nisbet forces way into Rangers transfer conversation after Aberdeen loan spell

Former Rangers defender turned football agent Craig Moore has tipped Kevin Nisbet for a potential summer move to Ibrox after the striker's impressive recent form on loan at Aberdeen.

Nisbet, who has been a standout player for the Dons in recent months, has earned a transfer pitch as Rangers prepare for what is expected to be a transformative close-season.

Moore’s comments come amidst growing speculation surrounding the future of the Ibrox club, with Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises confirming last week that "productive conversations" are underway regarding a possible takeover.

Ex-captain Barry Ferguson is currently in interim charge at Rangers, but with the appointment of sporting director Kevin Thelwell now confirmed, the search for a permanent manager has become a top priority.

As the Glasgow giants brace for changes both on and off the pitch, supporters and pundits alike are already weighing in on potential targets and necessary squad improvements - and a new frontman seems to be essential if Rangers want to successfully compete with champions Celtic.

Nisbet, who is still contracted to parent club Millwall for another year, is the latest Scottish Premiership player to attract attention following his sensational match-winner for Aberdeen against Hibernian at the weekend. It was the 27-year-old's 13th goal of the season, while he has also provided five assists during his 33 appearances.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show after being asked whether Nisbet was a forward Rangers should be looking at, Moore said: "I think he is 28 and there is talk of potentially Aberdeen might not being able to afford him from Millwall or money might be an issue.

"Again, I think it would be a good fit for Rangers, if they are looking, which I am sure they are looking at every single position.

"Took his goal brilliantly at the weekend. He is coming back on himself, and his anticipation in terms of just to sometimes stand still, but to come back and volley finish it the way he did."

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker also chimed in, highlighting the need for Rangers to sign a player who knows the Scottish game and can consistently score against domestic opponents.

Walker commented: "I think Rangers do need someone who knows the Scottish game and can score against Scottish opponents. "That is something that has been a problem this season. Rangers have drawn and lost too many games. Forget about the Celtic games, they seem to get up for that.

"Someone who can score regularly, and I know we spoke about it before with Lawrence Shankland but there was someone who could score regularly on the Scottish scene.

"Rangers always talk about what they need for Europe or the strongest opposition. Someone who has already got that, Kevin Nisbet. He can score against Scottish opposition as could Lawrence Shankland - maybe that boat has sailed now.

"It is always an interesting one when you see these names linked they seem to be dismissed just because they are Scottish players."

Moore also reflected on the past, stating: "I still think the Shankland one was a missed trick going back a year."
