Kevin Nisbet ends Hibs 47-year wait for Scotland tournament representative

Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet has ended a 47-year wait for a Hibee to grace an international tournament in Scotland colours.

The striker replaced Queens Park Rangers frontman Lyndon Dykes for the final 11 minutes as Steve Clarke's side fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Czech Republic in their first Euro 2020 game.

The previous Easter Road representative to play for Scotland at a tournament was John Blackley, a member of the famous Turnbull's Tornadoes side that featured against Zaire at the 1974 World Cup.

Nisbet looked promising in his late cameo with an effort saved by Tomas Vaclik before a goal-bound header was blocked by a Czech defender .

He'll be keen to add to his fledgling international career after netting just minutes into his debut.

The 24-year-old scored against the Netherlands in a warm-up friendly for the tournament against the Netherlands.

Other Hibs stars have been involved in tournaments since West Germany '74 but Alan Rough, Andy Goram, Darren Jackson and Jim Leighton did not feature despite their presence at World Cups in 1986 and 1990.
