Kevin Nisbet denied Scotland chance as Steve Clarke leaves Hibs star on bench

Steve Clarke has decided to leave Kevin Nisbet on the bench and go with Lyndon Dykes as his sole striker against the Faroe Islands.

The Hibs frontman had hoped to get a chance to start for Scotland on Tuesday night after Che Adams was ruled out with an injury.

But Clarke decided that Ryan Christie is the right option to go with and the Bournemouth playmaker will play just off of Dykes in the No. 10 spot.

Nisbet has one goal in his eight appearances for Scotland and that came against Netherlands back in June.

He would have hoped to add more goals to his name on Tuesday but will instead need to hope for an appearance off the bench.

Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon does keep his place in the starting lineup, though, and will earn his 62nd cap for Scotland.

He is now the country's No. 1 goalkeeper with ex-Tynecastle stopper Jon McLaughlin on the bench, along with Motherwell's Liam Kelly.

Clarke has gone for an interesting starting XI with Ryan Fraser starting at right wing back and Scott McTominay moved back into midfield.

Scotland team: Gordon, Hendry, Hanley, Tierney, Patterson, Robertson, Gilmour, McGinn, McTominay, Christie, Dykes

Subs: Kelly, McLaughlin, O’Donnell, McGregor, Ferguson, McKenna, Cooper, Armstrong, Turnbull, Nisbet, Patterson, McLean
