Kevin Nisbet delighted to end barren spell as Hibs star targets scoring run after St Johnstone strike

Kevin Nisbet wants to go on a goalscoring run after netting his first goal in over a month.

The Scotland international netted Hibernian's equaliser against St Johnstone as Jack Ross' side mounted a late comeback to beat St Johnstone.

Nisbet has endured a difficult run in front of goal and his strike in Perth was his first since scoring against Rangers at Ibrox over a month ago.

The 24-year-old was relieved to be back amongst the goals and he praised his teammates' character to end a run of five consecutive defeats.

“The goal meant a lot,” said Nisbet. “Being back on the scoresheet and celebrating again felt good.

“The last few games I’ve felt a lot sharper, back to like I was last season, and I knew if I kept getting myself in the right positions, kept working hard, then I’d score. I proved that tonight.

“I had a similar period at Dunfermline where I didn’t score for a few games, then I scored one and I just kept scoring after that. Hopefully it’s the same thing!

“When you’ve had a run like we’ve had, and then to go a goal down like that, a lot of teams would fold, but we’ve got a great group in there, we’re all together, and we all trust each other.

“We kept going until the final whistle and we got the result we full deserved.

“Even when there’s 11 people on the pitch each, we controlled the game. We conceded a sloppy goal, which we will go back and look at, but I think the character of the lads – losing five on the bounce and coming back today – was great. The result was fully deserved.”
