Kevin Nisbet Celtic transfer latest as Hibs prepare to put up a fight for star striker

Kevin Nisbet is a transfer target for Ange Postecoglou as he looks to beef up his attacking options.

The new Celtic boss wants to add goals to his forward line and on Thursday handed Leigh Griffiths the chance to establish himself with a new one-year contract.

With Odsonne Edouard still likely to depart, the Aussie is looking to Celtic’s Premiership rivals for a potential replacement according to the Daily Mail.

Nisbet finished as the Hibees’ top scorer in his first season after signing from Dunfermline.

The front man became a full Scotland international and played his way into Steve Clarke’s squad for Euro 2020.

He netted his first goal for his country off the bench in a warm-up game against the Netherlands before making second half cameos in all of the Scots’ group games against the Czech Republic, England and Croatia respectively.

His progression hasn’t gone unnoticed and admiring glances have been cast along the M8 by the Hoops.

However, Nisbet won’t come cheap.

He still as three years left to run on his deal at Easter Road and his value to Hibs will only have increased after his international exploits.

Jack Ross is determined to hold onto his main man and the capital club knocked back a £3million deadline day offer from Birmingham City in January

That prompted a transfer request from Nisbet, who is thought to be close to several of Celtic’s players, including James Forrest.

However, there is likely to be interest from elsewhere and from clubs who won’t be easily put off by a big asking price.
