Kevin McCloud has split from wife of 23 years amid claims he took his things and walked out of the family home.
Suzanna McCloud is said to have come to find the Grand Designs star, 60, had moved out of the farmhouse they shared near Bruton in Somerset.
A source told the Daily Mail that Suzanna, known as Zani, is heartbroken, saying: "Zani is absolutely devastated.
"She came back home one day to find that Kevin had taken his things and left."
A spokesman for McCloud said: "I can confirm that, sadly, Kevin and Suzanna separated. We won't be making any further comment."
The former couple are parents to four children.
News of the split comes weeks after reports suggesting two of McCloud's property firms are facing liquidation.
HAB Land Finance - set up to buy land for housing estates - and HAB Land are said to be on the brink of collapse after a difficult few years.
McCloud previously opened up about his home life, telling the Daily Telegraph: "I’m terribly fastidious.
“I like symmetry and neatness, but my house is as chaotic as any other family’s.
“I come home, say ‘Hi’ and drag my children away from the various screens in the house if I can.
"Then sit around like a nerd reading books about the history of engineering before I head off again.
“It’s a weirdly itinerant way of life.”
