Kevin Lunney attack probe sees two men arrested in Dublin

Two men have been arrested in Dublin as part of the investigation into the kidnap and torture of Quinn chief Kevin Lunney.

Mr Lunney was abducted, savagely beaten and left for dead after being pulled from his jeep near his Co Fermanagh home and driven across the border in Co Cavan on September 17.

He was repeatedly cut and slashed across the face and body with a Stanley knife, doused in bleach and beaten with a wooden post in a horrific attack which is said to have lasted two-and-a-half hours.

The pair, both aged 38, were arrested for an offence contrary to Section 73 Criminal Justice Act 2006, Dublin Live reports.

They are being detained at Ballymun and Finglas Garda Stations under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007.

A spokesman said: "An Garda Síochána is not providing any further information at this time."

They added: "An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to any person who has any information, no matter how insignificant it appears, on this vicious criminal attack or any other criminal activities which have taken place in the Cavan/Fermanagh border area over recent years.

"Anyone with information can contact An Garda Síochána at Cavan Garda Station 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, Crime Stoppers on 1800 25 00 25 or any Garda Station."
