Kevin Lunney attack detectives launch "significant" search operations

Detectives investigating the abduction and attack on businessman Kevin Lunney are conducting a number of searches across Ireland and in England this morning.

The PSNI's Criminal Investigation Branch are working with colleagues in An Garda Síochána and Derbyshire Constabulary as part of the coordinated search operation of properties in Derrylin, Derbyshire, Cavan, Dublin and Longford.

Mr Lunney was forcibly and bundled into the boot of a black Audi during a terrifying abduction incident close to his home in September.

The Director and Chief Operating Officer of Quinn Holdings sustained a broken leg and a range of other 'very severe' injuries during the ordeal at his Co Fermanagh home .

Detective Chief Inspector Julie Mullan said: "The investigation is continuing at pace and today's significant operation involves searching four residential properties and one commercial premises in the Derrylin area.

"Our colleagues in Derbyshire Constabulary are searching one premises in their area and members of An Garda Síochána are searching five locations in County Cavan, three locations in County Longford and four locations in Dublin. These premises are a mixture of domestic dwellings and commercial business premises.

"This was a truly horrific crime and we continue to work closely with our colleagues in An Garda Síochána and now also Derbyshire Constabulary to try and bring the perpetrators to justice."
