Kevin Kilbane feels more nervous before DJing than when he was playing

Kevin Kilbane racked up some 110 caps in an illustrious Ireland career - but he's never felt nerves like he's experiencing this week.

The 42-year-old is set to make his festival bow as a DJ with a set on Saturday at Electric Picnic.

But the former wideman admitted that he's feeling the nerves this week - stressing that the butterflies have affected him more than they did during his playing career.

"I'm probably expecting to balls up at some stage but the nerves are there," Kilbane said at Virgin Media Sport's viewing of the UEFA Champions League draw today.

"Even now, a couple of days out, Friday and Saturday the nerves will definitely be there.

"I'm getting sweaty palms now even thinking about it.

"It's worse than playing, let me tell you - way worse."

Performing at the AIB Tap House area, festival-goers can catch Ireland legend 'Killa' Kilbane as he continues his venture into DJing after he supported Groove Armada last November.

Despite the nerves, Kilbane reckons it'll be good fun and is looking forward to experiencing Ireland's biggest music festival.

Kilbane added: "I'm very excited. You could hardly call it a festival performance, I don't know what I'm calling it myself at the moment. I'm looking forward to it, I really am.

"I think it's going to be good fun, I'm going to enjoy myself."
