Kevin Hart's car was 'death trap' missing key safety features before horror crash

Kevin Hart's purpose built 1970 Plymouth Barracuda was reportedly missing a number of key safety features.

The 40-year-old actor and comedian suffered a fractured spine in three places, after his vintage motor left the road in Malibu, leaving Hart with serious injuries.

Car safety experts have told TMZ that they believe the revamped motor was missing safety features that could have saved him from the Jumanji star, who was a passenger when the vehicle veered off Mulholland Highway around 1am last Sunday morning.

Specialists in revamping vintage vehicles, Rad Rides by Troy, have told the site that Kevin's ride was missing a five-point harness and roll cage.

This is a feature that is reportedly "highly unusual" to be missing from a 720 horsepower motor like the one that Hart was riding in.

Hart is said have taken "baby steps" in his recovery and is now slowly walking again.

He is said to be still suffering excruciating pain as he recovers from the sickening car crash that left him with a fractured spine.

TMZ has reported that Hart is still "miles away" from a full recovery, but has managed to keep a "positive mood".

It is thought the actor has started physical therapy this weekend - just days after he underwent surgery for three fractures to his spine.

The vehicle, which was Hart's birthday present to himself in July, was destroyed in the smash which also saw his friend Jared Black injured.
