Kevin Durant was spotted leaving the arena with crutches after Game 5 injury

Kevin Durant’s gutsy effort to return from his calf strain got off to an unthinkable start in the first quarter of Monday’s Game 5. But that all came crashing down just minutes into the second quarter.

After scoring 11 points in the first 12 minutes, Durant went down in pain and immediately grabbed his lower leg/heel area. Though the Warriors had labeled Durant’s May injury as a calf strain (and announced it as such during that game against Houston), the team shifted its categorization to a “lower leg injury” and said that Durant would get an MRI on Tuesday.

The early looks of the injury weren’t encouraging as Durant was spotted leaving Scotiabank Arena with crutches and a walking boot.

He exited the arena midway through the third quarter.

The injury — in all likelihood — ends his season with Golden State. If this was Durant’s last game with the Warriors, he certainly secured the respect of his NBA peers by trying to come back.
