Kevin Durant says calf injury worse than previous calf strains

As the Golden State Warriors continue their preparation for the NBA Finals after sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers for the Western Conference crown, they’d hoped the nine-day layoff between Game 4 of the Portland series and Game 1 of the Finals would give their guys time to rest, rehabilitate and get ready to go.

That does not seem to be the case, however, for superstar Kevin Durant who does not seem like he’s close to returning. Durant has not played since Game 5 of the semifinals versus the Houston Rockets when he suffered what was originally diagnosed as a Grade-1 calf strain.

Connor Letourneau reported that Durant says his current injury is worse than any previous calf injuries.

The Warriors are 5-0 since Durant went down. But considering their Finals opponent will be either Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks or Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors, Golden State would much rather have Durant back for this series. Antetokounmpo and Leonard are two of the elite small forwards in the game and the Warriors would prefer to have him in matchups with those two.

Game 1, in either Milwaukee or Toronto, is set for May 30. The Raptors currently have a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference series.
