Kevin Durant’s mother Wanda already defended her son against critics in a passionate Twitter post on Tuesday in which she said “you DON’T know him. He has the heart of a true Warrior! This too shall pass.”

On Wednesday, she went on Good Morning America and talked about watching her son suffer the devastating Achilles injury on television. Wanda said she then spoke to Durant five to ten minutes after what transpired in Game 5 and that the Golden State Warriors star had this to say: “He just told me not to cry … I know he worked so hard to get back to play and he just told me he was going to be okay, don’t worry.”

She also didn’t seem to blame the Warriors’ organization for putting Durant back out on the court, noting that doctors had said he was cleared to play: “Kevin couldn’t have gone on his own to say, I’m going to play, without the advisement of the doctors.
