Kevin Durant perfectly captures the enraging absurdity of being human in latest Twitter exchange

Kevin Durant, thank you.

Thank you for tweeting on through it. “It” being your life and career and the storms you conjure just by being you and trying to do what you’d like to do. Thanks for letting us see the conversation in your head, for engaging with us all when nobody would blame you for retracting and thank you, most of all, for revealing you’re just a conflicted human who happens to be insanely good at scoring the basketball.

We’re not even a week past Durant dunking on somebody telling him to calm down with “No relax champ” because “I’m on 10 until the second I close the app” and he’s absolutely living up to those words.

Get that dopamine, KD. Even when it hurts.

This conversation began with the tired notion that Durant somehow ruined the NBA by wanting to join the Warriors and win titles. Fans also asserted he’s somehow at fault for the Brooklyn Nets acquiring good talent and trying to win. It’s all so silly.

But Durant, who’s been out since mid-February with a hamstring injury, was having none of it Sunday.

What a profound statement. So many ways to go with it. But I’ll just let it rest. Each person should take the words of this philosopher and apply them to their own situation in whatever way feels right.
