Kevin Durant, LeBron James have private discussion on court during timeout

The Golden State Warriors won big in Los Angeles against the Lakers on Thursday night, cutting their magic number for the top seed in the Western Conference down to two with four games left to play on the schedule.

The win was only the second biggest topic of conversation about the game, though. During a timeout during the second quarter, Kevin Durant wandered over to the Lakers bench and had a private conversation with LeBron James about who knows what.

With both men covering their mouths, knowing the entire world would try and read their lips, it appeared as if both James and Durant were having a light-hearted conversation filled with a few laughs.

When asked about the conversation, Durant said, “Everybody wants to know what we’re talking about. It wasn’t even that serious. Just laughing and joking and catching up.”

Both guys had to know that a moment like this would blow up on social media and the blogs. Durant is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer and the Lakers just happen to have space for a max-level player like Durant.

Following the Lakers disappointing season and knowing that James is going to do everything he can to bring in another blue chip ball player to turn the Lakers franchise around, this is the exact kind of moment that is going to lead to months of speculation.

“Everybody is so interested, especially in LeBron. So whoever he talks to, the lipreaders are going to try to figure that out,” Durant said about the moment. “You guys are infatuated with that whole thing. It’s fun. People try to figure it out.”

If we had to guess, there probably wasn’t much said in the moment. If all of the reporting on Durant’s future is accurate, Durant is going to end up in New York next season anyway.

It’s fun to talk and speculate about, though. Durant didn’t seem too bothered about the questions, which is always a good thing, too.
