Kevin Durant calls out 'generational lie' over alleged Kyrie Irving and Steve Nash feud

NBA superstar Kevin Durant called out an 'outrageous lie' from former player Olden Polynice about an alleged feud within the Brooklyn Nets team.

Polynice, who played 15 seasons in the NBA, is now a commentator and told a story about what sparked a feud between Durant's Nets team-mate Kyrie Irving and head coach Steve Nash. "One of the reasons there are issues between he (Steve Nash) and Kyrie Irving is because of a statement that he made during a party at Steve Nash's house," said Polynice speaking on Fox Sports Radio.

"In front of everybody Kyrie said 'you need to give those trophies back, you don't deserve them. To me that was the beginning of the end for the Nets.

"In the end there is no leadership around because they don't respect Steve Nash enough to follow him and Steve Nash has not had enough coaching to be a leader.

"That team is just a made up fantasy. They have talent, but in the play-offs that is not enough."

In reply to the comment, Durant tweeted: "Olden after he dropped that generational lie." Olden took it as a compliment that Durant had taken notice of his comment but stood behind his story.

He added: "Lol, if that’s a generational lie then we are all in trouble. People may not like the truth but it’s always coming.. like PJ Tucker said “I Love you”.. You are still one of the best ever.

"Glad to know I still have a little impact out there.. KD responded to me.. F yeah!"

Durant had submitted a trade request to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this summer and allegedly gave the Nets an ultimatum to either fire Marks and coach Steve Nash or send him to another franchise. However, he has since rescinded his request.
