Kevin Durant called out Shannon Sharpe for falling for a fake quote

If you come at Kevin Durant, you best not miss. It’s clear that the Nets superstar will not hesitate in calling you out.

We’ve seen him do it to people on social media time and time again. And on Monday night, he did it again. This time it wasn’t just a random person on Twitter, though — it was Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe repeated a Kevin Durant quote on Monday’s episode of Undisputed when they were discussing Durant’s take on championships not being the end-all, be-all for him anymore.

Except for the quote really wasn’t a quote from Durant — it was a fake one that circulated around Twitter months ago.

Someone tweeted back in October that Durant had viewed himself as the greatest player of all-time because he beat LeBron James in the Finals twice. It was convincing. Even ESPN’s Jay Williams fell for it.

Now, five months later, Sharpe fell for it, too. On television.

“Kevin Durant thought by winning the title, people would regard him universally as the best player in the NBA. Better than even LeBron James But very few people were willing to go there. And then he’s like…Because he said it. ‘If LeBron James is the GOAT. I beat the GOAT twice, and hit the shot in his building. What does that make me?’,”

Durant…never actually said that. And then he called Sharpe out for the misquote.

Oof. That’s rough.
