The general sports public had quite a bit of fun with the Washington Football Team’s reveal of their temporary team name on Thursday afternoon, with some people being okay with the placeholder name, and many, many others taking a chance to make some jokes about it.
Among those who were poking fun at the team were prominent NBA star LeBron James, who made his return to the hardwood on Thursday night, and notable Washington fan, Kevin Durant.
LeBron’s original tweet about hearing of the name change was met with a blank stare from Durant, seemingly noting his disapproval on the temporary change.
It may not be the best name change in the world, but at least it’s temporary, and at least it’s signaling that the team is taking time in thinking about and finding a new option.
