Kevin Durant already warned fans that he would never play for the Knicks

The New York Knicks are getting absolutely roasted at the start of NBA free agency, and for good reason. They went into this season with the expectation of signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to go alongside Zion Williamson.

They struck out on all of them.

But in a sense, Knicks fans should have seen this coming. The entire mystique of playing in New York at Madison Square Garden has been gone for a decade. When you have the one of the most overbearing, incompetent owners in Jim Dolan along with a passionate (but delusional) fanbase, you can understand why Durant went elsewhere.

Oh, and there was the time he warned Knicks fans about this two years ago.

Back in 2017, Durant was asked when he was going to sign with the Knicks, and he immediately shouted back, “Never!”

That video resurfaced on Sunday as Durant announced his commitment to the Brooklyn Nets.

He’s a man of his word — Knicks fans should have known this was going to happen.
