Kevin De Bruyne's comments on his fitness will give Spurs hope ahead of Man City triple-header

Spurs take on Man City in the Champions League on Tuesday in the first of three games between the sides this month.

With the second leg taking place at the Etihad Stadium the following Wednesday, Spurs are then back in Manchester on the Saturday in the league with the season drawing to a close.

Pep Guardiola's side are the favourites to come out on top in all three games and will be extremely keen to progress in the Champions League after exiting the competition at this stage to Liverpool 12 months ago.

Kevin De Bruyne played a major role in City's success last season but he has only made 25 appearances in all competitions for the team this term after an injury-hit campaign.

Although he has appeared in City's last two games and netted in the win over Cardiff in midweek, the good news for Spurs fans is that the Belgian international doesn't believe he will be at his best for the reigning champions in the run-in.

"No, probably not. Not compared with last year," he said when asked if he will be at his best over the remaining weeks (via The Guardian ).

"I don’t know what my level is going to be but to be fair I don’t really care. Now it’s the business end [of the year], I just need to do what I can do to help the team win games.

"If that means playing five games or 10 games, I’ll take it all. It’s been that kind of season."

The ex-Chelsea man has only appeared in three games since the start of last month but he has claimed he is still not feeling fresh despite barely playing this campaign.

"No, not really," he added. "I feel sometimes my season had double the length of other players because every time you need to be in, you need to make almost double the hours, you never have a day off because you need to work on your recovery.

"It’s more draining than to play in the end. A lot of the time you’re alone but you have to do it. I did it and I’m happy I’m back."
