Kevin de Bruyne on the surprise points total Man City might need to beat Liverpool in the Premier League

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has made an interesting prediction regarding the upcoming Premier League season.

Liverpool finished as runners-up on 97 points, as City reclaimed their title finishing a point ahead of the Reds.

The Belgian international speaking ahead of Sunday's Community Shield clash has predicted how many points it will take to win the 2019/20 Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old said: "We don't need to beat the last two seasons - maybe we can win this season with 85 points.

"It is not about improving, it is about staying consistent, trying to be there every game, trying to win every game.

"It is not always about doing better, because how can you do better sometimes?

"To win every year what we won the last two years is going to be pretty difficult but it is good to be there."

Pep Guardiola's side will take on Jurgen Klopp's squad in the season's curtain-raiser, with Man City looking to defend their Community Shield title.
