Kevin De Bruyne gives Man City injury update on his condition and Kyle Walker 'knock'

Kevin De Bruyne has played down fears over the long-term nature of his injury while speaking to a gamer on Twitch.

De Bruyne limped out of Manchester City's win over Aston Villa, and is expected to be out for a fortnight, putting his participation against Liverpool on February 7 in doubt.

However, the Belgian has been speaking during a Fortnite stream on Twitch about his condition, where he moved to reassure fans that his latest injury is just 'part of football' and getting older.

He said: "I'm alright. I'm alright, part of football. It's not too bad. I'm getting old you know, not a young chicken anymore. I'm thirty in the summer."

De Bruyne was also asked about Kyle Walker's setback, after the right-back was replaced in the first half against Villa after coming worse off in a challenge with Jack Grealish.

After initially trying to play on, Walker received treatment on the pitch with the medical staff tending to his hamstring area. However, Walker played on for a short time before eventually being replaced by Aleks Zinchenko.

And De Bruyne said of Walker: "I think he's going to be fine, more like a knock. I don't know exactly what he has yet."

De Bruyne was playing Fortnite to celebrate the launch of new City in-game emotes and outfits, launched this week in collaboration with City, FaZe Clan and Epic Games.

Taking part in the FaZe City Cup, the tournament is another example of City's partnership with FaZe Clan, the most prominent and influential esports and entertainment organisation in the world, which was announced by the club back in 2019, expanding the City’s esports offering to global audiences.
