Kevin De Bruyne gives Man City injury scare ahead of Manchester United clash

Pep Guardiola doesn't know if Kevin De Bruyne will be fit for the Manchester derby after he missed the FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday with a back injury.

The playmaker came off the bench in the Carabao Cup final but suffered an injury in the final minutes at Wembley that left him unable to make the matchday squad for Wednesday's game at Hillsborough.

Manchester City's manager is hopeful that the problem is not too serious but was unable to say on the evening of the Sheffield Wednesday game how long De Bruyne will be out for or whether he will be available for the game against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.

He did, however, confirm that Kyle Walker was simply rested for the game.

The right-back had started the previous six games and with Joao Cancelo out of favour at the moment - his start at Hillsborough was his first since January - Walker will be expected to reclaim his place in the team for some of the crunch games ahead.

"Kevin had a problem - he was not fit," said Guardiola. "The last game, the last minutes he fell down in a bad position and had a problem in his back. Hopefully not much [of a problem].

"Kyle played a lot of minutes, a lot of games lately I want to give him rest for the next games."
