Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne said Liverpool's Sadio Mane would have had his vote if this season's PFA Player of the Year award had gone ahead.
The prize, recognising the best player in the Premier League according to the players, was scheduled to take place this weekend with what would have been a few weeks remaining of the 2019/20 season. However, with the league having been postponed since mid-March and with no proposed date to return, it has been put off.
De Bruyne was one of the leading contenders to win the main award this season for his individual performances with the Belgian on course to break Thierry Henry's competition record of 20 assists in a season having clocked up 16 with 10 matchdays to go.
Liverpool pair Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson have also been tipped for the prize and, asked who would have had his nomination if the event had been going ahead, City's playmaker opted for the attacker.
"If I had to vote, I would say Mane," he told BT Sport.
"I think he's been the total package this year for Liverpool and he's been important. I think if i had to choose somebody I would choose Mane."
Liverpool players have won the award for the last two seasons, with Mo Salah claiming the prize in 2018 and Virgil Van Dijk in 2019. Bernardo Silva recently questioned the lack of individual recognition in the last two years given the Blues have recorded the two highest points tallies in Premier League history and won eight of the last nine domestic trophies available to them.
It is unclear whether there will be an award in 2020, with no voting having taken place.
