Kevin De Bruyne asked whether current Man City form is the best of his career

Kevin De Bruyne believes that 'it is hard to tell' whether he is in the best run of form in his career, despite an unreal start to the season for Man City.

De Bruyne endured a frustrating campaign last season, despite City's unprecedented trophy haul of a domestic treble, as he was plagued by injuries.

He missed a total of 29 City games last season for various injuries including a torn knee ligament, hamstring strain, a thigh issue and various muscle injuries.

As a result De Bruyne has started the season like a man trying to make up for lost time and has started the season on fire, scoring one goal and making five assists in just four Premier League games.

He has looked unplayable so far this season and looks like he could take City to even bigger heights than last year, but is it the best form he's ever been in?

“It is hard to tell that this is the best period out of my career so far," the Belgian said while on international duty, via SportWitness , "I have been playing over 500 games for eleven years now."

“Was I ever better? Hmm. I started [the season] with City very well: Four wins in the Premier League and in the Community Shield. It also goes well personally. I’m ready for the rhythm of the coming months, with all those midweek fights.”

De Bruyne is preparing for Belgium's EURO 2020 qualifiers against San Marino on Friday evening, before playing Scotland on Monday.

The 28-year-old also spoke of the importance of respecting lesser opposition.

“I respect every team. Everyone knows that San Marino is not the biggest team in the world. But that does not mean that you have to do tricks if you are leading 5-0. Otherwise you will feel even more embarrassed as a losing team,” he added.

“It is up to us to push on until the end. That’s the only way you show respect for your opponent. “Of course, It’s not nice to lose with a big margin, but at least you know that the team went out to make a difference with as many goals as possible.”
