Kevin Costner drops Whitney Houston bombshell as he reveals little known Bodyguard secret

Kevin Costner has revealed that his famous The Bodyguard co-star Whitney Houston wasn't actually in the film's iconic poster.

The 64-year-old actor made the surprising revelation about the 1992 flick explaining that he was after she'd left the set for the day.

"That wasn’t even Whitney actually,” Costner told Entertainment Weekly of the little known secret.

"She had gone home and that was her double, and her head was buried into my shoulder, which was appropriate anyway. She was frightened."

Costner also shared that it was him who picked that particular image because it was taken by his friend Ben Glass.

The image featured on the promotional poster is from the scene where Costner's ex-secret service Frank Farmer is carrying Whitney's performer Rachel Marron out of the club after a riot broke out at her show.

After Whitney had left for the day her body double stepped in to carry on filming, and she is the person featured in the shot.

Costner explained that there was some push back from film's executives who wanted Whitney's face to be seen.

He added: "They didn’t like it at first because you couldn’t see Whitney’s face.

"And so they sent me like five mockups where they put her head [on it] where she’s looking [out]. I said ‘Guys, I think we had it the first time.’ That it was really, and that ended up being the poster."

Bodyguard is renowned for Costner and Houston's sizzling onscreen chemistry which the actor credits to the script written by Lawrence Kasdan.

"It just caught [Whitney] at a really high moment or actually created a high moment for her. The words provide the chemistry in a way," Costner said.

Whitney, who passed away in February 2012 at 48, was already a chart topper when she starred in Bodyguard which rocketed her to an extreme level of fame.

Costner was her mentor – and he came up with the idea that helped I Will Always Love You become one of the biggest selling singles ever.
