Kevin Clifton will get a 'frumpy battleaxe' as next Strictly partner

Kevin Clifton will be given a "frumpy battleaxe" as his next Strictly Come Dancing partner, as bosses want a "sleaze free" show for 2019.

It is thought bosses want to swerve any potential scandals as the 36-year-old has been lined to three relationship break-ups since his time on the BBC show.

He is now dating Stacey Dooley after scooping the Glitterball trophy with the TV journalist.

Why Kevin Clifton CAN'T be sacked from Strictly Come Dancing - but Katya Jones can

A source told The Sun : "BBC bosses want a sleaze-free show, and are determined to clean up the series’ reputation this year.

“Given Kevin's reputation, justified or otherwise, no chances will be taken. He won’t be given a hot, single female, or stunning pop star for example. Instead the idea is to partner him with a no-nonsense woman, a real battleaxe or someone quite frumpy.”

Why Kevin Clifton CAN'T be sacked from Strictly Come Dancing - but Katya Jones can a spot in the Strictly 2019 line-up thanks to a contractual obligation.

BBC bosses speedily signed him up for another series after he took home the Glitterball trophy last December - before bombshell news of his romance with Stacey came out.

But the same can't be said for Katya Jones, who is believed to have been demoted to back-up dancer for the upcoming season thanks to her snoggate scandal with Seann Walsh behind husband Neil Jones's back.
