Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley’s relationship was allegedly snubbed by Strictly bosses after the pair were awkwardly left out of a segment focusing on romances that have blossomed on the show.
In a special episode of the show that focused on the professional dancers, viewers were treated to intimate stories about couples Giovanni Pernice and Ashley Roberts, Gorka Marquez and Gemma Atkinson, and Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg.
However, fans were left baffled by the awkward absence of last year’s winners Kevin and Stacey, who are also in a relationship.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “Kevin and Stacey missed out of the relationship bit then loooooool.”
Another said: “Nobody mentioning Stacey and Kevin in the show romances, then."
A third questioned: "Is it the bosses that don't like them or the dancers?"
However, the episode did reveal juicy details about the Kevin and Stacey’s early partnership.
Kevin admitted that he was keen to dance with the documentary filmmaker, believing they would make a good team.
He even said that he didn't want his colleague AJ talking to Stacey at rehearsals, in case he was paired with her instead.
Describing the fledging competition with AJ, Kevin revealed: “Last year with Stacey in the salsa circle I was going for it — bang, bang, bang — overdoing it.
"And then at one point we were on a coffee break and AJ interrupted us in the middle of us talking and took her away, because he wanted to get to know and see what she was about.
"I was like, 'It’s not Love Island, mate'."
However, it all worked out well for Kevin in the end after he and Stacey went on to win the coveted Glitterball trophy and each other’s hearts.
